Hi my name is Kyla (she/her) and I am a practicum student with City University of Seattle, about to complete my Masters of Counselling degree. In addition to this experience, I have been an educator for eight years, in which I have worked with refugee and immigrant, BIPOC, LGBTQS2+ and marginalized youth. This includes, the privilege of working and learning in Indigenous and decolonized spaces within the Coast Salish territory that I am honored to call home.
My approach is to walk alongside you, offering warm, non-judgemental support highlighting your strengths, values and resilience, while honouring the authenticity, resources, and autonomy you have within your life. I believe that we are living stories composed of multidimensional narratives that can either serve or harm us; together, we can co-create and explore meaningful narratives that bring connection and positive change to your life. This incudes exploring different approaches to support your healing, either through creative expression, nature, and mindfulness, or what best suits you.
Although I have lots of experience working with youth, I am interested in supporting clients from all walks of life, of all ages and concerns. I have a special interest in working with folks who are experiencing anxiety disorders, capitalism burnout, life transitions, grief and loss, climate anxiety, trauma, marginalization, systemic oppression, and gender and sexuality exploration.
In my personal time, I love growing my own vegetables, beach combing, backcountry hiking, being creative, and spending time with my family.
